Privacy Policy

Effective date: 25 June 2026 · Last updated: 25 June 2026

1. Who we are

Save Genie (“Save Genie”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a price-tracking app for iOS and macOS, operated by Compound Pixels Pty Ltd, ABN 28 697 075 853. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, where it is stored, and the choices you have.

We handle your personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). If you have a question about your privacy, you can contact us at any time at hello@getsavegenie.com.

2. A plain-language summary

  • Save Genie lets you save products from any online store and tells you when prices change.
  • We collect what you give us (your sign-in identity, the products and notes you save, and the photos and collections you create) and a small amount of technical information needed to send you notifications.
  • Your data is stored in our cloud database hosted in Australia, and a copy is kept on your device so the app works offline.
  • We use trusted providers (Apple, our data-extraction provider, our email provider, and, on iOS only, an advertising provider) to run specific features.
  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not store your payment-card details: payments are handled by Apple.
  • You can access or correct your information, and delete your content or your whole account, at any time.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Information you give us

Account and identity. When you sign in with Sign in with Apple, we receive a unique user identifier and, where you choose to share it, your name and email address. (Apple often provides a private “relay” email instead of your real one, and we support this.) We also store your display name, an optional avatar, and your notification preferences.

Saved content. When you save a product or create content, we collect the product web address (URL), the retailer, the title, brand, category and description, prices (such as current, original, alert and purchase prices), currency, sale status, the product image, identifiers such as a barcode/GTIN, the collections you create, and any notes, emoji or “thought” cards you add.

Photos. If you add product, receipt, or room/inspiration photos, we store the image and basic details about it (such as type and dimensions). We remove location and other hidden metadata from photos before they are uploaded.

Sharing and collaboration. If you share or join a collection, we store membership records, invite links, and any reactions or purchase-intent marks you add to shared items.

3.2 Information collected automatically

Some of the information in this section is technical, and on its own it may not identify you. It only becomes personal information when it can reasonably be linked back to you.

Device and notifications. To deliver push notifications, we collect your push token, a device identifier, the platform (iOS or macOS), your device name, the app version, and a last-seen timestamp, and we keep a record of the notifications we send you.

Subscriptions. If you subscribe to Premium, we receive from Apple a transaction identifier and your subscription status and expiry date. We do not store your payment-card number or other payment details.

Advertising (iOS only). On iOS, free users may see ads. We record basic ad-event data (such as event type, ad format, and estimated revenue), generally in aggregate. Premium users and all macOS users see no ads. Advertising and tracking permissions, including Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt, are handled through our advertising provider’s consent flow.

Service and reliability data. We keep operational records needed to run the service, for example records of product-extraction attempts (the URL, retailer, whether it succeeded, and timing) and rate-limit counters. This information is mostly technical and is used to keep the app working and to prevent abuse.

3.3 Information stored only on your device

A copy of your data is kept on your device (in the app’s local database, a temporary photo-upload cache, your app settings, an image cache, and a device identifier in the Keychain) so the app works offline.

4. Why we collect and use your information

We collect, hold and use your personal information to:

  • provide the core service: saving products, tracking prices, and showing your collections;
  • send price-drop, availability and shared-collection notifications according to your preferences;
  • read product details from the pages you save (product extraction);
  • enable shared collections and collaboration;
  • process subscriptions and provide Premium features;
  • on iOS, show ads to free users and measure how those ads perform;
  • keep the service secure and reliable and prevent abuse; and
  • provide support and communicate with you about the service.

5. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described below.

5.1 With other users (only when you choose to)

If you share or join a collection, its members can see the items in it, your name and avatar, and any reactions or marks you add within that collection. Surprise gift lists deliberately hide your reactions and purchase marks from the gift recipient.

5.2 With our service providers

We use the following trusted providers to run specific parts of the service. They handle your information on our behalf and are required to protect it.

Provider What they handle Purpose Where it is processed
Apple Sign-in identity, push tokens, subscription transactions Sign-in, push notifications, payments United States
Supabase Your account, saved content and photos (our main database and storage) Cloud database and file storage Australia (Sydney)
Zyte The product page URLs you save Reading product details from saved pages United States
AppLovin (MAX) (iOS only) Advertising and consent signals Showing and measuring ads United States
Resend Your email address and email content Sending account and product emails United States

5.3 Legal and safety

We may disclose information if we are required to by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users, the public, or Save Genie.

5.4 Business transfers

If Save Genie is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will let you know if there is a change in who owns or controls your personal information.

6. Where we store your information and overseas disclosure

Your information is stored in two places: our cloud database, hosted in Australia (Sydney), and on your device so the app works offline.

Some of our providers (Apple, Zyte, AppLovin and Resend) run their systems in the United States. This means some of your information may be disclosed to and processed in the United States. Before disclosing your information to an overseas provider, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is handled in a way that is consistent with this policy and the Australian Privacy Principles.

7. Accessing or correcting your information, and your choices

You can ask us to give you access to the personal information we hold about you, and to correct it if it is wrong or out of date. To make a request, email hello@getsavegenie.com. We will respond within a reasonable time. If we cannot give you access or make a correction, we will explain why.

You can also manage your information directly in the app:

  • Delete content: remove individual items, collections or photos at any time.
  • Delete your account: Settings → Account → Delete Account, which removes your data from our cloud database.
  • Manage notifications: in the app’s notification settings or in your device settings.
  • Manage advertising and tracking: through your device’s App Tracking Transparency settings, or upgrade to Premium to remove ads.
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails: using the link in any marketing email we send.

8. How to make a privacy complaint

If you think we have mishandled your personal information or breached the Australian Privacy Principles, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. Email hello@getsavegenie.com with the details. We will acknowledge your complaint, look into it, and respond to you within a reasonable time.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

9. How we protect your information

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, use or disclosure. This includes encrypting your data while it travels over the internet, limiting who can access it, and storing your photos in private storage that only you and the people you share a collection with can see. No app or online service can ever be completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date and, where the changes are important, let you know in the app or by email.
